Re:scam. The AI chatbot designed to do the one thing you shouldn’t: reply to scams.
By forwarding suspicious emails to Re:scam, our bot identified scams and began a never-ending conversation, turning the tables on scammers so they wasted their time talking to a chatbot instead of real targets.
With multiple personalities, a constantly growing vocabulary and the ability to generate false account information, there was no way for scammers to know they were talking to computer. Users could also share the conversations they’d initiated and communicate with Re:scam via social media.

Janet
Janet is a stay at home Mum. She’s very busy and tends to tell a lot of cute stories about her kids. She doesn’t always get the chance to read all her emails, but will send updates on Timmy’s adventure.
Ryan
Ryan loves surfing and chilling. He’s a little dazed and has trouble concentrating, but he’s keen on any opportunity you have for him. He just can’t believe how lucky he is to have so many rich relatives.
Mei
Mei is studying English, and is very keen to get better at it. So she really appreciates your help when maybe some of her replies aren’t grammatically correct. She is such a sweetheart and just wants to make friends, so will ask you lots of questions about your day too.
Alesha
Alesha is an ambitious young professional. She is open to every opportunity, but is very litigious about making sure it isn’t a scam. So could you please send her all the paper work and she might get a chance to read it in a month or so?
Graham
Aww Graham, he’s the most tech savvy senior in his bridge club. He still can’t seem to get the hang of this internet thing though. He tends to wait for his grand kids to sort it out for him, so if you could just wait for their next visit, he’s sure to send you his bank details then.
Peter
Peter has been around the block a few times, and he knows what’s what. He owns his own business, and is looking to retire early. He’s also recently divorced, so he’s stoked to be approached by so many gorgeous girls from Russia all of a sudden.
